Dynamic Ultrasound Imaging for Women’s Health Physiotherapists

 

 

This new 2 day course is designed for physiotherapists involved in the treatment of women’s health patients who are using, or are considering using, dynamic ultrasound imaging as part of their assessment and treatment regime.  A good, basic knowledge of the anatomy of the pelvic floor and continence mechanism are essential.

 
The course will cover:

  • Principles and physics of ultrasound imaging
  • Safety precautions and contraindications
  • Pre and post void bladder scanning
  • Measurement of bladder capacity
  • Revision of the anatomy of the pelvis floor and continence mechanism
  • Transabdominal and transperineal scanning
  • Analysis of pelvic floor activity and continence mechanism
  • Assessment of abdominal wall musculature and fascia
  • Combined palpation with imaging

Lead Tutor:     Jane Dixon, Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist  in Women's and Men's Health (assisted by members from the DUG teaching faculty).
